The West Bengal Veterinary Council is a statutory body established under the provisions of the West Bengal Veterinary Council Rules, 1999. The WBVC consists of twelve members,four are elected by the Registered Veterinary Professionals and nine are nominated by the Government of West Bengal. The President and Vice President of WBVC are elected by the members of the council from amongst themselves, as per the provisions of the West Bengal Veterinary Council Rules 1999.

The Functions of the Veterinary Council includes maintainance of the Veterinary Registrar, containing the names of doctors who possess any recognized Veterinary Qualifications, Disciplinary Control over the Veterinary Practitioners issue of Warning notice similar to that of the Indian Veterinary Council and orientations of Registered Veterinarians from time to time.
